I grew up in a small town tucked away among the trees of Washington State. It's hard not to develop a love for fantasy when you grow up surrounded by towering evergreens, misty forests, and landscapes that look as though they belong in a fairy tale. With so much natural beauty and a little magic seemingly hiding around every corner, I suppose it was only a matter of time before I started imagining worlds of my own.
As a teenager, I left my quiet little corner of the world and joined the U.S. Army, beginning what would become a lifelong love of aviation.
After leaving the Army, I found myself working as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA in Alaska, which is where I met my husband. Apparently, I loved military life so much that I decided to marry right back into it. But in my defense, who could say no to a handsome fighter pilot?
Being his wife gave me the opportunity to travel and live all around the country. Each new place brought its own adventures, unforgettable people, and experiences that would eventually find their way into the stories I write. From the towering mountains of the West to the rolling hills of the South, I've been fortunate enough to experience so many different corners of the country, and I like to think a little piece of each has followed me into my imaginary worlds.
Eventually, life brought us to Texas, where we've finally put down roots with our four amazing children, two cats, and a little dog who recently celebrated her fifteenth birthday. Our house is full of laughter, chaos, and the kind of wild conversations and ridiculous situations that provide endless inspiration for a writer.
